Brazil ranks low in Covid-19 testing

Brazil is one of the countries that conducts the least Covid-19 tests per capita worldwide, according to data from Oxford University. Although the country is not officially part of the rankings and the Health Ministry has stated that “it does not release regular updates on testing,” with 63 tests per 100,000 people, Brazil would place 60 out of 76 countries. Of the Latin American countries that are part of the rankings, Brazil tests only more than Mexico, Argentina, and Bolivia

As of April 20, the country had conducted 132,467 Covid-19 tests out of a population of over 211 million persons, with another 56,613 tests still under analysis.
