UPDATE: 2,741 Covid-19 deaths, 43,079 cases

The latest figures released by the Health Ministry show that Brazil recorded a further 166 Covid-19 deaths over the past 24 hours, as well as almost 2,500 new cases. With this increase, the number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the country has now doubled over the last nine days.

As The Brazilian Report has pointed out repeatedly over the past two weeks, the Health Ministry admitted that the actual number of cases and deaths is likely to be higher, due to a backlog in diagnoses.
