Bolsonaro plans to ease quarantine in small cities

President Jair Bolsonaro is mulling over softening quarantine in small- and medium-sized cities with few confirmed Covid-19 cases, per newspaper O Globo. The Health Ministry would be responsible for establishing guidelines and implementing the new rules.

According to Mr. Bolsonaro’s allies, multiple approaches could be tested in a country as big as Brazil. On Thursday, the president had announced he was considering signing a decree labeling as essential “all activities by men and women responsible for their families’ income.” Health Ministry experts, however, have argued that alleviating the quarantine should only be considered after the public health system is completely stable.
