Rio extends quarantine for two weeks

Rio de Janeiro Governor Wilson Witzel announced his state will remain in quarantine for at least another 15 days. Here are some of the restrictions to be enforced over the next two weeks:

  • Public transport fleets will be cut in half — and free transport for students is suspended;
  • Bars and restaurants will be limited to 30 percent of their capacity;
  • Gyms, sports venues, theaters, shopping malls, and commercial centers will remain closed;
  • Hand sanitizers will be a part of families’ basic basket of goods during the quarantine. In practical terms, it means that this product’s prices will be surveyed to measure families’ purchasing power.
