16 new cases in Rio over 24 hours

Authorities in Rio de Janeiro announced on Wednesday that Covid-19 cases in the state reached 49. Yesterday, they amounted to 33, meaning figures increased 50 percent overnight.

Cases around the state are distributed as follows:

  • Rio de Janeiro (42)
  • Niterói (6)
  • Barra Mansa (1)

Also according to authorities, one patient has shown severe symptoms while the rest are in self-isolation. A 69-year-old man died yesterday after showing signs of a Covid-19 infection, but authorities still haven’t confirmed if the disease caused the death, which would make it Brazil’s second Covid-19 mortality.
