Brazil’s Justice Ministry is hosting Thursday and Friday the first South American summit on transnational organized crime. Attendants are expected to sign a “Brasília Declaration,” listing policies for the coordinated prevention of transnational crime.
Justice Minister Anderson Torres is set to invite neighboring countries to join the International Police Cooperation Center (CCPI), headquartered in Rio de Janeiro and originally created for the 2016 Olympic Games. “The objective is to allow the exchange of intelligence data, integrated actions, and joint training and planning of criminal investigations,” says the ministry.
The summit will also be attended by representatives of Interpol, Ameripol, and Europol.
