Argentina waives test requirements from twice vaccinated neighbors

Eyeing the recovery of its tourism industry, the government in Argentina is lifting some of the entry barriers for Brazilian tourists. As of January 29, those who have taken at least two doses of Covid vaccine will no longer need to present a negative RT-PCR test to enter the country.

The decision also concerns tourists from all Argentinian bordering countries — Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Meanwhile, non-vaccinated tourists will need to provide proof of medical exemption for not getting immunized. For these individuals, RT-PCR tests and quarantines will be mandatory.

Travel restrictions have differed across South America. Chile, for instance, required all tourists to present proof of vaccination — to be validated by local authorities.

Paraguay, on the other hand, has been lax with border controls in regions which are highly dependent on border crossing for their economies, such as Ciudad del Este and Pedro Juan Caballero.
