After being admitted to a Brasília hospital in the early hours of this morning complaining of abdominal pain, President Bolsonaro will be transferred to São Paulo to undergo further tests. According to the president’s press secretary, doctors noted the presence of bowel obstructions and Mr. Bolsonaro may require emergency surgery.

Earlier, the president’s office said that Mr. Bolsonaro is feeling well and is investigating the causes of persistent hiccups he has suffered for the past week or so, which have impaired his speech.

Mr. Bolsonaro had cleared his entire schedule for today, which included a crucial meeting between the three branches of government.
