During a briefing at the White House on Tuesday, Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced that the Biden administration is ironing out the details to send USD 20 million worth of Covid-19 medical supplies to Brazil.
It is believed the aid package would include drugs to aid intubation, which have been in short supply around Brazil. A recent study from the São Paulo State Hospitals and Clinics Union (SindHosp) showed that 98 percent of the state’s private medical facilities only have enough intubation drugs to last one month. Thirty-seven percent reported they only had enough supplies left for one week.
Ms. Psaki added that the medications would be delivered in partnership with the Pan American Health Organization, and would come from the U.S.’ strategic stockpile.
