Brazilian startup funding halves in 2022

After a record-setting 2021, the volume of investments in startups in Latin America stood at USD 12 billion last year, down 34 percent compared with the previous year. The data, from Sling Hub, shows that the number of investment rounds in the region also dropped by 10 percent to just over 1,200. 

• Brazil, as the biggest economy in Latin America, more or less dictates the region’s overall performance.

By the numbers. In 2022, the volume of investments made to Brazilian startups dropped by half compared with the previous year to just USD 5.2 billion. The number of investment rounds also fell by 13 percent to 810.
