Tech roundup: Brazilian startups flock to Lisbon summit

The Brazilian delegation at Web Summit 2022 was the event's fourth-largest, and a record for the country

Brazil enjoyed record participation at Web Summit 2022

This year’s edition of the Web Summit — one of the biggest technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship events in the world — ended last Friday after four days of lectures and meetings in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. And Brazil played a big part, sending its largest delegation since it first attended the event back in 2018.

Record. This year, the Brazilian Promotion, Exports, and Investments Agency (ApexBrasil) took 70 companies to Lisbon, including 57 startups from all areas and 13 innovative companies.

  • Brazil’s small business support association Sebrae also took another 270 domestic startups to the summit, 70 of them for the international mission. 
  • With these figures, only the United Kingdom, Germany, and the U.S. had more participants.
