What Lula and Bolsonaro have in store for tech for the next four years
With less than a month until Election Day in Brazil, the two main presidential candidates — former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and current President Jair Bolsonaro — released their government manifestos for the next four years, with different goals for technology and innovation.
As expected, Mr. Bolsonaro tried to focus on achievements accomplished during his administration, such as the 5G auction and PIX, the Central Bank’s instant payment system — though both are the results of years-long processes that preceded him. Lula, on the other hand, highlights what he sees as the current administration’s shortcomings, such as investment cuts to research institutions.
