Hacktown

On September 7, Brazil celebrates an annual holiday to commemorate the country’s independence from Portugal. But a small town in the countryside of Minas Gerais decided to use the long holiday as a way to look to the future. This is how Hacktown was born.

The festival takes place every year in the town of Santa Rita do Sapucaí and is inspired by the famous South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. Although on a much smaller scale, Hacktown holds the same kind of vibe that attracts people from all over the world to see the newest highlights in technology, entertainment, and music.
