On Thursday, the Health Ministry confirmed the first case of Covid-19 reinfection in Brazil. The patient is a 37-year-old health worker, who lives in the northeastern city of Natal. She contracted the disease in June, was considered cured, but became infected again in October. Confirmation of reinfection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus came after sequencing the complete viral genome, identifying two distinct strains.
