The water crisis in the Federal District (Brasília) is the most severe in its history. And while authorities scramble to find a solution, residents are being advised to avoid toilets. Instead, the Federal District’s Legislative Assembly (CLDF) is telling the region’s inhabitants to urinate directly onto the ground and defecate into newspapers.

Home to 3 million Brazilians, Brasília is also the seat of Brazil’s political capital and has the highest GDP per capita in the country.
