“A far-right picnic” kicks off near São Paulo

The Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, holds its third Brazilian edition on June 11 and 12, in what is set to be an overtly pro-Bolsonaro campaign rally in all but name. The biggest conservative right-wing meetup in the country is set to squash any lingering belief that Brazil’s sitting president will moderate his messaging ahead of the presidential election in October.

During his first encounter with U.S. President Joe Biden on the sidelines of this week’s Summit of the Americas, Mr. Bolsonaro said he is “quite certain” that he will leave office “through democratic means,” just as he ascended to the presidency. He also recognized the legitimacy of Mr. Biden’s 2020 win — after casting doubts on it earlier in the week.
