The history of Brazil is one of violence. Worries about getting robbed, or murdered, have become real concerns for millions of Brazilians. After all, over half a million people were murdered in Brazil in the last 10 years. And it’s not just because Brazil is a gigantic country with 207 million people. Our murder rate is 30 times that of Europe’s.
There have been more killings in Brazil since 2008 than in 92 countries combined. That means, that by the time you finish listening to this podcast, two more people will have been murdered in Brazil.
But how do we solve the country’s violence crisis? That will be one of the main challenges of Brazil’s next president.
