Were you scammed during Brazil’s Black Friday?
Despite persistently high levels of unemployment and a loss of purchasing power for many social segments, Brazilians topped BRL 2.1 billion in purchases during Brazil’s Black Friday—26 percent more than in 2017. However, gripes from customers also went way up. Between Friday, November 23, and Saturday, November 24, 12,000 complaints were registered by Brazilian customer protection services.
To discuss the successes and shortcomings of the Brazilian version of the consumerism fest that is Black Friday, we spoke to Nilton Kleina, editor at Tecmundo, one of Brazil’s main tech news websites.
What are the biggest scams out there, and how to avoid them? Also, Nilton gives us some tips on how to avoid being hacked when shopping online in Brazil. And, of course, he lets us in on the secrets for finding the best discounts all year round.
