Hackers leak millions of military documents
A group of hackers has stepped into the internal communications of some of the most powerful armies in Latin America, gaining access to millions of private documents, leaking them across the internet amid calls for social justice, and opening Pandora’s box, the long-term consequences of which are still hard to evaluate. Chile, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and El Salvador have been affected.
The hackers. A manifesto published alongside the leaks says the group, known as Guacamaya Roja, is offering “resistance” to “529 years of invasion,” a reference to Cristopher Columbus’ arrival on the continent in 1492, exactly 530 years ago today.
