On Wednesday evening, President Jair Bolsonaro told the press his doctors were investigating a “possible skin cancer.” Not too long after, however, his own press office issued a statement saying Mr. Bolsonaro is in good health, and there is “no indication of skin cancer.” Both the president and his press service have promoted misinformation in the past, making it hard to know who to trust. But our team will continue monitoring the story.
Greta v. Bolsonaro
Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg was chosen “Person of the Year” by Time magazine. The 16-year-old is the youngest person to be featured on the list—and gained international prominence for delivering a speech at the UN Climate Action Summit that lambasted global leaders for not doing enough to control climate change. Ms. Thunberg has also made her way onto another list: that of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s international foes.
