Lula brings his broad front to the transition team
After Brazil announced its 26-man World Cup squad, the news Brazilian markets were anticipating the most was who would make it into President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s transition cabinet. Geraldo Alckmin, the vice president-elect and coordinator of the process, announced team leaders on Tuesday.
The transition. A 2022 law entitles the incoming administration to name up to 50 paid officials to the transition team (anyone above that cap will not be paid for by the public purse). They can use the weeks leading up to the January 1 inauguration to get up to speed with information on government agencies and programs.
