Looking at election data below the surface
The dust is still settling from Election Day, and as we crunch the voting data, interesting new findings emerge. American-style state maps colored according to which candidate won the most votes certainly offer some insight in the heat of the action, but closer inspection of the results bring a lot of nuance.
Advance and retreat. The overall map of who won in each state or area contains few surprises — with former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva taking the poor Northeast and Jair Bolsonaro, the incumbent, taking states that are wealthier or more reliant on agriculture.
