Brazilian employed population the highest on record
A study by the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) based on population surveys shows that the Brazilian employed population in July topped the mark of 100 million people for the first time ever — already discounting seasonal fluctuations.
- Brazil’s unemployed workers combined for 13.6 million people a year prior, now down to 9.7 million.
Behind the numbers. Researchers point out that “the expansion of the employed population has happened in a generalized way, encompassing all regions, all age groups, and educational segments, and all sectors of the economy.”
