U.S. and European lawmakers take digs at Bolsonaro
Two moves by lawmakers in the U.S. and Europe are a testament to how Brazil’s image abroad has suffered in recent years.
U.S. Congress. A group of six members of the Democratic Party submitted an amendment to the U.S. national defense budget which would cut military aid to Brazil should the country’s Armed Forces interfere with the upcoming October elections.
- U.S. military aid to Brazil has been shrinking as of late. Moreover, there is no guarantee that the amendment will be considered — let alone approved. There are almost 1,200 such proposals to amend the budget.
