Bolsonaro wants the military counting votes
In a presidential event in defense of freedom of expression, President Jair Bolsonaro seems to have abandoned the cause of introducing printed ballots as an additional feature of Brazil’s electronic voting system. That was less of a sign of moderation, as Mr. Bolsonaro espoused even more outlandish ideas, such as allowing the Armed Forces to count votes.
What he is saying. Mr. Bolsonaro said votes are counted in a “tiny secret room” within the Superior Electoral Court. “A suggestion is that there be a branch, a tad to the right, with a computer of the Armed Forces counting the ballots,” he told a crowd of supporters.
