Covid inquiry comes to an end
The Senate’s hearings committee which investigated Jair Bolsonaro’s pandemic response over the past six months has wrapped up its works by approving its final report. Ultimately, the list of indictment requests reached 80, including individuals and companies, 12 more than when the draft report was released last week.
- The list includes President Bolsonaro, three of his sons, four cabinet members, lawmakers, business owners, and one state governor.
What they are saying. Rapporteur Renan Calheiros called the president a “serial killer,” and rated his administration as “the lowest step in human indigence.” Mr. Calheiros attributed nine crimes to Mr. Bolsonaro, including crimes against humanity.
- Mr. Bolsonaro, however, got the endorsement of former U.S. President Donald Trump, who said in a statement that “Brazil is lucky to have a man such as Jair Bolsonaro working for them.”
