Brazil’s 5G soap opera
The arrival of 5G technology in Brazil has been—once again—postponed, as the National Telecoms Agency (Anatel) failed to reach a decision on the rules of a future auction of 5G frequencies. Anatel had a vote scheduled for yesterday, but one of its board members asked for more time to analyze the issue.
Lagging behind. The much-anticipated 5G tender was expected for 2020’s second semester. But, due to the rules of public bidding processes, which demand a minimum of five months for the Federal Accounts Court to evaluate the terms, among other regulatory hoops, it is safe to say that the auction might be held...
