What the Brazilian economy will look like in the next two years

All is said and done in the 2018 presidential election. Far-right congressman Jair Bolsonaro was victorious, despite a lack of clear proposals for the Brazilian economy. We already know that ultra-libertarian economist Paulo Guedes will be Mr. Bolsonaro’s financial tsar, and that he defends pro-market measures and a major overhaul of Brazil’s tax and pension systems (you can read more about Mr. Guedes’ agenda here). While markets love Mr. Guedes’ ideas, it remains unclear if he will be able to implement his proposals to the fullest.
