House Speaker Arthur Lira and President Jair Bolsonaro will be the guests of honor at the “Brazil Cycle of Ideas – Women,” a week-long schedule of meetings held by lobbying group Grupo Voto to commemorate International Women’s Day.

All meetings will be with male leaders, including Infrastructure Minister Tarcísio de Freitas, Economy Minister Paulo Guedes, and São Paulo Vice-Governor Rodrigo Garcia.

“We will bring a wonderful group of women, business leaders, and opinion-makers to Brasília for very important meetings with the most important men in this country,” says Karim Miskulim, Grupo Voto’s CEO. She enjoys a close relationship with Mr. Bolsonaro

“We believe that together we will be able to break the cycle of masculine power, and thus we will be able to contribute much more to the transformation of our country,” she adds.

International Women’s Day is rarely a moment for celebration in Brazil, with each year bringing new proof that the country is lagging behind on its path to gender equality.
