Brazil’s federal health regulator Anvisa granted a request from Pfizer to include recommendations for third doses on package insert of its Covid-19 vaccine. Booster shots are advised to be taken six months after a second jab, with the change applying to all adults over 18 years old.

A week ago, the Brazilian Health Ministry extended eligibility for booster shots to adults aged 18 to 59. Moreover, the government decided to shorten the interval between second and third doses from six to five months. The Health Ministry’s vaccination plan for 2022 includes 354 million third doses for adults up to 60 years old — and a fourth for senior citizens.
