Monday’s Federal Register included a new resolution increasing medicine prices by up to 4.88 percent. The decision affects over 19,000 drugs available in Brazilian drugstores.

The price increase comes two weeks ahead of schedule, as previous rules established changes would be made at the end of March. The Jair Bolsonaro administration did not specify why it brought the price hike forward.
