A group of truck drivers blocked one of the most-important highways in São Paulo, Brazil’s biggest city. The sector is protesting against state quarantine measures which will come into force at midnight. For the next two weeks, only essential businesses will be allowed to operate.

In response, the local administration said São Paulo is currently in “a war-like operation to save lives,” and that it will not backpedal. Multiple cities in São Paulo have seen ICU occupancy rates reaching 100 percent.

The collapse can also be seen in private hospitals. Four flagship hospitals simply do not have any ICU beds available.
