Chile clears AstraZeneca vaccine for emergency use

Chilean health regulators ISP greenlit the emergency use of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine in the country.

The move aims to beef up the country’s immunization campaign — which started in December with the Pfizer vaccine — with the first 500,000 doses out of a total of 4 million arriving in April.

So far, over 67,000 Chileans have been vaccinated, with 10,300 already receiving the necessary second jab. Totals are expected to increase in February, as the vaccination effort expands to senior citizens and Chile expects the arrival of 10 million doses of the Chinese-made CoronaVac.
