International visitors need negative Covid-19 tests to enter Brazil

Brazil’s federal government issued an ordinance stating that all visitors from foreign countries must present proof of a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test before entering Brazil. The measure comes into effect on December 30 and will apply to any international visitors arriving by air, including Brazilian citizens.

The proof of a negative Covid-19 test must be submitted to the airline responsible for the flight, before departure. The test in question must have been administered within 72 hours before the trip. The ordinance also states that all international visitors must sign a waiver upon entry to Brazil, declaring that they agree with the Covid-19 prevention measures in place in the country. However, the legal provision does not specify which measures these are.
