A little more than two months after registering the first Covid-19 casualty, Brazil passed Spain yesterday to become the country with the fifth-highest number of coronavirus-related deaths. Only 24 hours after that, the country reached a new milestone: with 956 new deaths registered, Brazil now passes France as fourth in fatalities worldwide — 28,834. Only the U.S., the UK, and Italy have confirmed more coronavirus casualties.

The Brazilian Health Ministry also informed 33,274 new cases. As of today, the country has 498,440 confirmed cases. Experts say the country is yet to reach its Covid-19 peak.
