Nearly all Brazilians support the implementation of programs that allow for the transfer of public funds to non-profit health care institutions, according to a poll by government-owned Instituto DataSenado. According to the institute, 96 percent of Brazilians support the initiative. The bill that provides for the relocation of BRL 2 billion (USD 342.5 million) from the federal government to philanthropic hospitals was signed into law by President Jair Bolsonaro on May 5.

Last month, reporter André Cabette Fábio explained that the integration of public and private health care institutions could produce a more effective response to Covid-19.
