The federal government today announced a change to the rules governing emergency aid paid to informal workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, banks can no longer discount debts over the value of emergency aid and the payment will temporarily substitute Bolsa Família, when its value is higher than that of the cash-transfer program.

Another change is the suspension of the financial student program (FIES) payments during the pandemic for the duration of four installments. The government also included teenage mothers among the persons eligible for emergency aid.
