São Paulo Mayor Bruno Covas was hospitalized this Wednesday due to abdominal pain, according to newspaper Folha de S.Paulo. His medical report stated he was diagnosed with colitis, an inflammation in the colon. He is currently receiving treatment at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital in São Paulo, and is responding “very well.”

Mr. Covas is currently fighting gastrointestinal cancer — but has remained at work regardless.
