⚠️ UPDATE: Brazil officially tops 10,000 deaths

new cases hospitals Update: 1,128 confirmed Covid-19 infections, 18 deaths

Brazil’s Health Ministry has released its latest coronavirus update. Over the past 24 hours, the country recorded 10,611 infections and 730 deaths — bringing total figures to 155,939 and 10,627, respectively.

These numbers, however, are massively underreported, due to low testing. Brazil has tested only 1,597 people for every 1 million inhabitants. That is a rate 33 times smaller than Spain’s.

What is particularly worrisome about today’s update is that it breaks with a trend of lowering numbers during weekends. We saw the highest daily figures for cases and the second-highest for deaths.
