Bolsonaro adds two more categories to essential business list

President Jair Bolsonaro authorized the inclusion of two more categories to the nationwide essential business list: industrial and construction activities. This includes key sectors of Brazil’s economy such as manufacturing, transportation, and energy. Since yesterday evening, the decree supersedes social isolation measures set by local governments. These activities, however, must follow the Health Ministry’s guidelines. In a meeting at the Supreme Court yesterday morning, Mr. Bolsonaro told Chief Justice Dias Toffoli that he would extend the list of essential activities.
