The indices that measure business and consumer trust in Brazil plummeted to historic lows in April, according to think tank Fundação Getulio Vargas. While the Consumer Trust Index fell 27.5 percent — now at 58.1 out of 200 points — the Business Trust Index shrank by 53.7 points. The areas that fell the most were industry (39 points), services (34.9), construction (29.1), and retail (26.8).
The only exception to the downward trend is the Economic Uncertainty Index, as we showed in our April 14 Daily Briefing.
