The Infrastructure Ministry informed that truckers and port workers are the next in line for common influenza shots in Brazil, as the government launches the second stage of a national vaccination campaign. While the influenza shot does not protect against Covid-19, the government expects it to assist health professionals to diagnose infected patients by elimination.

Roughly 2 million doses will be distributed around the entire country between April 16 and May 9. Truckers and port workers had demanded vaccines in order to continue their work — which is considered “essential” by a presidential decree. The shot will protect them from viruses Influenza A (H1N1), Influenza B and Influenza A (H3N2).
