The number of people in intensive care units due to Covid-19 complications in São Paulo jumped from 174 to 206 between March 29 and 30, according to the latest data released by the state’s health department. The number may rise further over the next few days, as 258 patients are currently in regular hospital wards. São Paulo is the worst-affected state by Covid-19 in Brazil and is currently home to 1,451 of Brazil’s 4,256 confirmed cases.

The state has also registered 98 deaths due to the disease.

State-wide quarantine is in place until April 7, but Governor João Doria has said preventive measures may be extended.
