Brazilian revenue authorities won’t change income tax calendar

Brazil’s federal revenue service has told The Brazilian Report that the Covid-19 outbreak will not alter the calendar for Brazilian taxpayers to turn in their income tax declarations. “Over 90 percent of people submit their forms online, so [postponing deadlines] is not on our radar at the moment,” said one representative.

Earlier in the day, the U.S. government announced it will postpone the deadline for income tax declarations to July 15, in an attempt to fight the economic impacts of the disease. Brazilian revenue authorities said over 5.8 million taxpayers had already turned in their taxes as of March 19. The deadline expires on April 30.
