Hours after blocking all land borders, the federal government has decided to bar South American nationals from entering the country, too. The order is set to be published within the next few hours and will only affect passengers, not goods.

The information was published by online magazine Crusoé.

On Wednesday, President Jair Bolsonaro decided to shut Brazil’s border with Venezuela, in a move that was more motivated by ideology than practical reasons, as Lucas Berti reported on The Brazilian Report.

However, as this blog reported, passengers landing from Europe and North America are being allowed to enter the country without being screened by border officials.
