Far-right blogger Allan dos Santos, who has fled Brazil for the U.S. in July 2020 to avoid being arrested for his links with criminal misinformation networks, participated in a motorcycle rally with supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro — who was also in the event. The blogger shared images of the event on Instagram.
Mr. Santos has an arrest order against him, as the Supreme Court believes he was plotting an attack similar to the January 6 U.S. Capitol riots in Brazil. Justice Alexandre Moraes requested cooperation from U.S. authorities to extradite Mr. Santos and include him on Interpol’s red list.
As The Brazilian Report revealed in November 2021, Brazil’s National Justice Secretary José Vicente Santini — a personal friend of President Jair Bolsonaro’s sons — issued an ordinance giving himself the last word on all extradition requests to other countries. Since then, the extradition process of Mr. Santos has not advanced.
Organizers of CPAC Brazil, an ultra-conservative conference taking place this weekend in Campinas, announced and celebrated the fact that Allan dos Santos was present at the motorcycle rally. The crowd erupted in cheers.
