Banks and beer top Brazil’s 10 most valuable brands

A report from consulting firm Kantar BrandZ, on Brazil’s most valuable brands for the year 2021/2022, found that the country’s 50 most valuable companies have a combined brand value of USD 79.3 billion. Banks and alcoholic beverages were the most prevalent categories amongst the top 10 valuable companies.

For the second year in a row, bank Itaú is ranked Brazil’s most valuable brand, worth USD 8.08 billion according to Kantar. Banks Bradesco and Nubank are the third- (USD 5.96 billion) and seventh-most (USD 3.59 billion) valuable brands, respectively.

Three brands of beer make the top 10 most valuable: Brahma in second place (USD 6.52 billion); Skol in fourth (USD 5.92 billion); and Antarctica, tenth (USD 2.46 billion). Their high ranking is unsurprising – all three are owned by Ambev S.A., the mega-company that controls close to 70 percent of the national market.

Telecoms operators Claro (USD 5.16 billion, fifth place) and Vivo (USD 2.63 billion, ninth), retail chain Magazine Luiza (USD 4.73 billion, sixth), and state-controlled oil giant Petrobras (USD 2.64 billion, eighth place), complete the top 10 list.

Other beverage companies (such as Schin, Ypióca, and Bohemia), banks (Caixa and Banco do Brasil), and fuel companies (Ipiranga) make Kantar’s top 50 list. Sectors such as coffee (Pilão and 3 Corações), drugs (Dorflex), and tourism (Azul and Gol) are also represented amongst Brazil’s top 50 most valuable brands.
