Jair Renan Bolsonaro, the fourth-eldest son of President Jair Bolsonaro, will testify today in a federal money-laundering probe. The 24-year-old is suspected of influence-peddling and misappropriation of funds for allegedly using his family connections to access public funds for his events company, called “Bolsonaro Jr.”
This is the second time federal marshals have tried to force Jair Renan to depose since the case was opened last year. The first attempt was in December, but he evaded giving testimony after contracting Covid.
This probe is only one of many concerning the Bolsonaro family. Brothers Flávio and Eduardo Bolsonaro – a senator and a congressman, respectively – are suspected of employing dummy workers in their offices in Congress. Carlos Bolsonaro, a Rio de Janeiro city councilor, is believed to be the mastermind behind far-right illegal fake news-spreading networks.
