São Paulo Governor João Doria confirmed on Wednesday that the state will distribute a fourth dose of Covid vaccine to all eligible residents. The decision goes against Health Ministry recommendations, which say fourth shots should be reserved for immunosuppressed citizens.

The new round of vaccination will begin as early as this Thursday.

On Monday, the city of Botucatu — used for a mass-vaccination study last year — started rolling out fourth doses to people aged 60 or older who had taken their booster jab at least four months prior.
