The São Paulo state government announced that fully-vaccinated citizens will be eligible to receive Covid-19 booster shots four months after their last jab, instead of five months. Governor João Doria announced the measure on social media this afternoon, as an attempt to avoid the spreading of the Omicron variant in the state.
“We have decided to cut the interval for booster shots from five to four months. São Paulo is the entryway to Brazil and, unfortunately, the country does not require proof of complete vaccination from visitors,” he said.
The new rule applies to all citizens who received CoronaVac, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer vaccines.
Currently, to enter Brazil, travelers only have to fill out a self-declared health assessment form saying they present no symptoms and feel fit to travel. On Wednesday, the Federal Accounts Court recommended the federal government to demand proof of Covid-19 vaccination from all foreigners hoping to visit the country.
